Spread over 30.5 hectares of land (about the size of 60 football fields), Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) is situated next to the Yio Chu Kang MRT station.

The modern campus, with its new and state-of-the-art facilities, is modelled on a town centre concept to provide all the conveniences of a self-contained "Teaching and Learning City".

Some of the facilities found in the campus include a fully computerised library, specialist laboratories, a 300-seater Theatre for the Arts and a 1,200-seater auditorium. The staff apartment blocks are well-furnished and located within the campus premises, providing residents the convenience of proximity.

The retail outlets on campus provide a wide range of merchandise such as multimedia accessories, stationery, gift items, sports goods, and food items.
For sports enthusiasts, the track and field, adventure challenge park, gymnasium, and rock-climbing facilities allow you to sweat it out and tone up your muscles. For a less strenuous sport, organise a game of badminton, table tennis or basketball in our air-conditioned sports hall. Or if you prefer a cool sport, then head for a plunge at our Olympic-sized swimming pool.
You will enjoy the tranquillity amidst our landscaped greenery and cooling water ponds. Coupled with its high-tech orientation synonymous with an educational institution of the millennium, Nanyang Polytechnic is your choice of a one-stop centre for learning and interaction.

Working with industry and Attachment
Working with industry and Attachment

Working with Industry
Industry Services

The Industrial Project Group (IPG) in Nanyang Polytechnic, School of Engineering, was established as a platform for staff and students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-life projects. It is also a springboard to support the industries and to foster closer industrial linkage by providing a comprehensive range of R&D services and solutions. IPG is structured like a business entity and run by a multi-disciplinary team of full-time project engineers, designers and technologists.
IPG sources industrial projects from companies. The multi-disciplinary capabilities of the IPG allows NYP to provide full-turnkey integrated solution to industries covering project consultancy, project management, design, development and system commissioning leveraging on technologies .

Industrial Attachment Programme

Local Industrial Attachment Programme

Here at School of Engineering in Nanyang Polytechnic, you do not only ‘hit the books’ in all your 3 years of study – you get to experience what working in the real world is like!  As final year students, you will be attached to certain companies in the local industry for a 12-week period under the Industrial Attachment Programme (IAP).
Such an opportunity will allow you to experience first-hand what it takes to work out there in the real world you will be able to put to practice all that you have learnt; you will experience for yourself what corporate culture, interpersonal relationships and how you can make it all work for you, what it takes to succeed in the working world? In short, you are prepared to join the workforce immediately upon graduation!
Besides, the support the many companies in electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, business and IT sectors have given Nanyang Polytechnic over the years will put you in an advantageous position.
The best part of this whole integral experience is that you do not have to apply for this experience. The IAP is arranged and coordinated by Nanyang Polytechnic's very own Placement Services Centre (PSC). Your course coordinator will then notify you of the details of your attachment.

Course structure and how do we study.
COURSE STRUCTURE

In the first year, you will be trained to have a comprehensive foundation in basic engineering principles, medical sciences, and biochemical sciences.
Building on this foundation, in your second year of study, you will acquire more in-depth knowledge by applying basic principles learnt in the first year into applicable biomedical engineering systems and practices.
In the third year of studies, you can choose from one of the following elective programmes:
  • Biomedical Device Design
  • Biomedical Processes & Quality System

The three-year course emphasizes hands-on training, with one whole semester set aside specially for the final-year project module in the third year. Moreover, to prepare you for the real world, the industrial attachment programme will give you a chance to work with companies on real-life projects.

How do we study?

We have
  • Lectures : which is mostly done in lecture theater. You will combine with other groups of students who are also learning the same module.
  • Tutorial : done in tutorial room. This will be conducted among your module group only. This is where tutorial( homeworks) answers will be discussed and this is a very good time for you to ask the lecturer questions.
  • Lab : Available only for specific module. Will be conducted in the specified lab with your own module group.
Laptops are very important!
There will be some modules which required you to bring your own laptop.
There will be equizes or elearning or class activity using your laptop.
